This post will be continuation of my earlier post on christmas ornaments. In addition to the 5 ornaments in the previous post, these mini wreathes are also created out of dry flowers, leaves and fruits. Nature provides these in abundance. No need to buy any of these from store. You can pick your choice of flowers, leaves etc or whatever is available in your surroundings. Each pc will be unique.
Lets start with the materials i used in making these.
- Dry flowers, leaves – I love collecting these during my evening walks. Some of these are used when they are fresh so that its easier to shape them.
- Tall grass – I picked these from my backyard.
- Hot glue gun
- Soft wire –
- Hooks
Process –
- Tie a bunch of grass. I used grass itself to wrap it all together. Towards the end to make the circle, use a small pc of wire to hold the ends together. Its important that grass is use when its fresh because its easier to shape it. It will dry and hold this shape quite well.
2. Make your layout of the dried flowers before placing them permanently on these rings. Once you are sure of the layout, use hot glue to place the dried flowers on the rings. With dry flowers i would suggest you can try drying different flowers. Simply put flowers on a tray and let these dry for a week. Whichever flower retains color and shape are good to use. For me its always hit n try method. I keep collecting wild flowers, and many of these i end up throwing because neither they retain color nor shape.
3. Last step would be simply using ornament hooks to hang these in the right place. 🙂
Please leave your valuable feedback and comments. I will surely respond.
