I made these decor pieces out of the various glass shapes for my favorite window in the house. I up cycled most of these pcs, except for the glass globe. Instead of throwing away a mocha bottle, my little boy’s fruit mix bottle, a couple of light bulbs and perfume bottle, I decided to use these along with the globe and some dry flowers from a bouquet.
All the materials you need –
- A few glass shapes – bottles, containers, glass bulbs etc.You can also use any glass shapes, available around you. This concept can easily be incorporated with the items you choose.
- Sand – I selected white sand, you can pick colored sand of your choice.
- Dry flowers – You can use dry any flowers of your choice. If the mouth of the container/bottle is small, then try looking for small size flowers, which can be easily pushed through, without breaking the stems.
- Wooden stick – Any stick, knitting needle would do the job. This is required to push the flowers gently through the mouths of the bottles.
- Paper funnel – You can make your own paper funnel with any paper. This will be used to put sand in the containers.
Lets start with the steps –
Breaking a light bulb could involve some risk. To safely remove the seal of the bulbs, follow the steps from here.
To remove labels of the bottles/containers, dip the bottles in vinegar mixed warm water. Leave the bottles for couple of hours and everything will come off with little scrubbing. Vinegar will help in cleaning the bottle inside out. It also adds to the shine to the surface.
Leave the bottles over night to air dry. Fill some sand with the help of funnel. You can make a temporary one with paper.
For perfume bottles, remove the spray cap and the metal pc with the help of plier. The pipe will come off easily, once the metal band around the neck of the bottle is removed.
Gently insert the dry flower sticks in the bottles. Place the flowers gently in the sand with the help of stick. If required you can cut slim stick of flower out of a bunch to make it easy.
Pls share your feedback, comments and questions. I would love to respond to your personal queries.

October 4, 2018 at 7:55 PMFirst of all I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if
you don’t mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
Appreciate it!
