Festive season has started. Creativity takes a new pace around this time of the year. My love for up cycling/ recycling inspired me to create this one. There are times when ideas are popping up so fast that I feel time is short to execute all of them. It gets difficult to chose which one I should start with. 🙂
This wall of lights was start of the festive decoration. Lets start making the list of the items needed to make this. Since it was an up cycled project, i will also suggest alternatives for a few items.
- Salt containers – You can chose any cardboard / metal containers of similar size.
- Paper knife – To the cardboard containers. If you have chosen metal containers, you would need metal cutter.
- Printed paper – You can chose your choice of color and print.
- Flameless candles – Flameless tea light candles. If you have chosen metal containers, you may chose either flameless or wax tea lights candles.
- Glue
- Paint – Needed only if you are using metal containers.
- Ruler
- Plain white paper
- Pencil
- Double sided tape – 1″ wide
- Pair of scissors –
Lets start with the process –
- Remove the wrapper of the containers and the metal dispensing nozzle from top.

2. We will get 2 boxes out of one container. One from the top edge and one from the bottom edge. Cut the boxes with the help of the paper cutter.
3. Cut 3″ wide paper strips from the printed paper. Length of this strip should be 1/2″ more than the circumference of the cut out box. In this case it is 11″ long and 3″ wide.
Since the width of the paper is 1″ wider than the height of the box. Keep the 1/2″ extra on both top and bottom edge of the cut box and glue the paper to the box.
5. on the top and bottom edge of the excess paper, make small cuts at 1/2″ and glue the paper to the base as in the below image. Repeat the process to finish the top edge as well. On top edge the excess paper will go inside the box rim.
6. If you are using metal container then instead of paper you can either paint or use paper to give it finished look.
7. To finish the base, keep the box on the paper to draw out the right size of circle. Cut the circle and glue it to the base.
8. Stick double sided tape on the base to stick it to the wall.
9. Stick the boxes to the wall in any layout of your choice and keep the flameless candles in it.
