Banner for Diwali – Diwali decor #1

Diwali is around the corner. My next few posts will be related to Diwali decor. All those small things, which makes your home extra special around this time of the year. Making this banner is much easier than you think.

List of items needed –

• Card stock – You can use bright plain colors or printed ones. 
• Gold stickers – Easily available 
• Gold color sharpie and some colored ones. I used red and black. 
• Thread 
• cello tape 
• Pair of scissors 
• Ruler.

Procedure –

Use a paper to cut the triangle shape and size as desired. I kept is 6″x 4″. You can also use any other shape if you like. Just remember to keep the size big enough to fit the letters. Use this paper as stencil on card stock, to keep all the triangles (or any other shape of your choice) of the same size. Cut these triangles.

Write Happy Diwali on a separate paper in the font size, which is just right to fit in the triangle cut outs.

For those, who feel that writing ‘Happy Diwali/ Deepawali, neatly would be a challenge, you can print the text in your choice of font in the right size. Use this print to trace the letters on the triangles.

Once you have traced the letters on the triangles, write with gold sharpie and outline each letter in some other bright color sharpie. I used red and and black to highlight the gold.

Cut the gold stickers in half and use not the edges of the triangles.

Once all the triangles are ready, lay then out on the floor with wrong side facing up. 

Maintain equal distance between each triangle . Stick the thread on these triangles with the help of cello tape. Keep the thread length 6 inches extra on both the ends.

You can make 2 separate banner for each word one big one. Alter the shape, size of it.

You can add more colors to it by adding tassels/ beads etc.
