How to up cycle white bulbs, tubelight – DIY

There is immense satisfaction is making something, for which you don’t find any guidelines. It all started with a fused tube light at home and went onto bulbs. I wanted to up cycle that tube light but didn’t get much ideas to turn it into something, which won’t be safely hazard.

After thinking for few days, one day i started seeing a cylindrical canvas. I cleaned tube light with a damp cloth dipped in the solution of water and vinegar. 

After that all i needed were some sharpies to add colors to it. By the end of it i had this beautiful, colorful tube, which I am now using as a support to my indoor vine. I also wrapped some rice lights around it for it to pop up at night as well.

WHITE COATED BULBS –

Then i moved on from tube lights to all the fused bulbs. Just a few days ago I changed almost 6-8 bulbs at home, out of which some were transparent which were added to the other story of the glass decor pcs. and then I was left with 4-5pcs of white and silver coated bulbs.

Once the idea of up cycling tube light clicked, i decided to go on with the same story line on bulbs. All I saw was blank canvas in different shapes and sizes. Only difference was, that this time I decided to make it functional by using these as vases.

It involved the process of breaking the seal of the bulbs. Breaking this seal could involve some risk. Therefore it is advised not to do it in the presence of kids. To do the process safely, read here.

Once I was ready with the hollow bulbs, I cleaned the surface with a damp cloth dipped in a solution of water and vinegar.

My canvas was ready to use some sharpies and add colors.

To void smudging the design, after completing it,I left the bulbs to dry for couple of hours. My stock of dried wild flowers came in handy for this projects.

Finally i used these as hanging vases along with the lights on my wall.
