SINGLE CROCHET AND CHAIN SEAM – (With Hook)
SC & CH seam gives much flatter effect than SC seam. This seam also has more stretch than SC seam. Its done on the wrong side of the pieces.
- Stitch by Stitch – Place the pieces to be joined together with right sides facing. Starting from the corner stitch, insert the hook through both the pieces and work a single crochet stitch in the corner stitch. Chain 1 and skip next stitch, work another single crochet in next stitch. Repeat alternate SC and chain stitch through out and end the seam with a SC. If matching yarn is used for sewing , it will blend with the pieces on the right side.
- Row by Row – Place the pieces with right sides facing. Starting from one corner, at the beginning of the seam, work a SC, Chain 1 and make another SC at a short distance. Repeat the SC and chain stitch alternatively and evenly spaced out till the end. End the seam with a SC. Joining row by row is exactly same as joining stitch by stitch, except that the even distance has to be checked in row by row seam, which is easy to check in stitch by stitch seam.
